A Mozart Interlude
Sunday, January 27, 2013
4 pm; Pre-concert talk 3pm
Richardson Auditorium

In the midst of a season focused on Western composers’ interpretations of the East, the PSO pauses to celebrate the anniversary of Mozart’s birth – and what better way to honor the incomparable composer than with an act from The Marriage of Figaro, one of his most beloved works? Follow the comic trials and tribulations of Susanna, Figaro, and the rest of the cast, as they navigate wedding-day mayhem. As a nod to the success of his opera, Mozart incorporated some of its principal themes into the boisterous, dramatically charged “Prague” Symphony, which was first performed in its namesake city just months after the premiere of Figaro.
