b'GavotteCecelia Mayama Keabetswe GoodmanBoth CECELIA MAYAMA and KEABETSWE GOODMAN are assistant teachers and librarians at Buskaid; both joined as young children, Cecelia at the age of 10 and Keabetswe when she was 9. In addition to their busy Buskaid commitments, they both freelance for the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra. They are also single mothers. Cecelia and Keabetswe have experienced many challenges and difficulties in their young lives, yet both have managed to forge very successful careers as performers and teachers. Cecelia also sings in the Soweto Gospel choir, and Keabetswe has developed her interest in fabric design by forming her own company, KeaKlassics.ElegyGilbert Tsoke Nathi MatroosGILBERT TSOKE had in fact received a few cello lessons at another project before he joined Buskaid, but as a 14-year-old beginner he made extraordinary progress with Sonja Bass as his teacher, and by the age of 20 was sent by Buskaid to the Royal Northern College of Music to further his cello studies.
