In Partnership The PSO works with area youth orchestras to enrich the high-quality musical instruction they provide and to offer opportunities for students to be inspired by professional artists. Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey (YOCJ)Under the baton of the PSOs assistant conductor, the YOCJ Symphonic Orchestra brings together approximately 70 young musicians in middle school and high school to explore advanced orchestral repertoire. Throughout the 2023-24 season, PSO musicians ran enriching workshops and sectional rehearsals, at times performing side-by-side with YOCJ students. YOCJ members and their families benefitted from free or significantly discounted tickets to PSO concerts.The 2023-24 season marked the fourth year of this partnership between YOCJ and the PSO. SPOTLIGHT on Kenneth BeanKenneth Bean is the PSOs Georg and Joyce Albers-Schonberg Assistant Conductor. In addition to his work with the PSO and YOCJ, Bean is an instructor and conductor in the Philadelphia area, as well as an active freelance trumpeter. He has been working with YOCJs Symphonic Orchestra since joining the PSO in 2021. Capital Harmony Works This year, the PSO partnered with the Trenton-based organization Capital Harmony Works youth orchestra, Trenton Music Makers, to provide a masterclass with violinist and composer William Harvey. Additionally, PSO musicians joined Trenton Music Makers for a special side-by-side performance celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.princetonsymphony.org 19'
