He has also been critically acclaimed for his comic timing and naturally clear diction. (Rosina) Peruvian-American mezzo-soprano Kelly Guerra is known for her fiery stage presence. Following her success as Maria in Astor Piazzolas tango opera Mara de Buenos Aires with Kentucky Opera earlier this season, Kelly makes house debuts in 2023 with West Edge Opera as Dolores Huerta in Dolores, and Opera Omaha in Suor Angelica as La Zelatrice, as well as a return to Princeton Festival as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia. She also joins Opera Theatre of St. Louis as a member of their new works ensemble, singing Derek Bermels House on Mango Street. In 2022, Kelly reprised the role of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in Derrick Wangs comic opera Scalia/Ginsburg at the Princeton Festival. She also made her Los Angeles Philharmonic debut under the baton of John Adams in the Noon to Midnight Contemporary Festival, and she premiered Katherine Balchs orchestral song cycle Illuminate with the California Symphony.
