Following Fires success, the Met announced that Liverman will star in Anthony Davis X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X, which will be the second opera by a Black composer in the companys history, premiering Fall 2023.Livermans 2022-23 season opens at the Kennedy Centers 50th Anniversary Celebration as the Celebrant in Bernsteins Mass. Livermans The Factotum, a genre-bending soul opera in which he stars and co-composed, premieres at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in February 2023. Other engagements include his house debut at Dutch National Opera in Jeanine Tesoris Blue; the title role in Pellas et Mlisande at LA Opera; Zurga in Austin Operas Les pcheurs de perles; appearances at Carnegie Hall, Brooklyn Art Song Society, and Portland Opera; and solo recitals at Londons Wigmore Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Virginia Opera.Recent achievements include receiving a 2022 Sphinx MPower Artist Grant, the 2020 Marian Anderson Vocal Award, a 2019 Richard Tucker Career Grant, and a 2019 Sphinx Medal of Excellence. As a collaborator, Mr. Miller has worked with many great artists.Recent engagements include a recital with international tenor Joseph Calleja and Nadine Sierra at the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as an appearance with Mr. Calleja on NPRs Tiny Desk Concert series. Mr. Miller prepared soprano Jessye Norman for performances of Laura Karpmans production of Ask Your Mama, which was performed at Carnegie Hall.He can be heard on piano on the recording Been in da Storm So Long, which features baritone Kenneth Overton.While a student at the Boys Choir of Harlem, he studied piano with the late conductor and pianist Warren Wilson.Mr. Miller studied at the Mannes College of Music, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano.He continued his studies at the University of Michigan School of Music where he received both a Master of Music degree and the Artist Diploma in Collaborative Piano under the tutelage of Martin Katz.
