At Richardson Auditorium

When should I arrive? We recommend arriving no later than 30 minutes before the performance’s start time. Richardson Auditorium’s doors open, and ticket scanning begins depending on the day and time of the performance.

  • For our Classical Series concerts, the venue opens:
    • Saturdays – 45 minutes before a performance’s start time.
    • Sundays – 90 minutes before a performance’s start time.
  • For Holiday POPS!, the venue opens 40 minutes before the performances’ start time.

Please be aware that due to Richardson Auditorium’s policy, early access into the venue is not available, even in the case of inclement weather.


Where is the Box Office & Will Call desk located?
The Box Office & Will Call desk is located on the east side of the lobby - bear left after entering the building through the main doors.


Where is the Accessibility Services desk located? 
Richardson Auditorium's Accessibility Services desk is located on the west side of the lobby - bear right after entering the building through the main doors.

Where are the restrooms located?
Four accessible restrooms are located on the west side of the lobby. Bear right after entering the building through the main doors and you will see the restrooms on the right side of the lobby. Additional restrooms can be found downstairs at the end of either side of the lobby. Please note that there are no restrooms on the Balcony level.
 

How can I identify the staff for a performance? Before, during, and after a performance, patrons can identify staff by their name tags and (in some cases) dress code.

  • Princeton Symphony Orchestra Full-Time Staff can be found at the Marketing table, Box Office, and throughout the lobby area.
  • Front of House Attendants are temporary employees of the PSO responsible for ticket scanning and greeting patrons. They will be dressed in all black and can be found at the front doors of the venue.
  • The House Manager, Ushers, and Lobby Attendants are employees and the volunteer staff of Richardson Auditorium. Their responsibilities include assisting patrons to their seats, managing the accessibility services desk and restroom lines. They will be dressed in all black or black and white with orange accents.
     

What is the average runtime for a performance? Is there an intermission?

  • Classical Series – 2 hours, including a 15-minute intermission.
  • Holiday POPS! – 75 minutes with no intermission


Are these performances appropriate for children?

  • Classical Series concerts - Recommended for children 5-years-old and up.
  • Holiday POPS! - Recommended for children 3-years-old and up.

Note: Youth (ages 17 and under) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must be a ticket holder. If a youth ticket is purchased without an adult ticket, you will be contacted by a member of our Box Office team.


What is the dress code?
There is no formal dress code for these performances. Attendees mostly come in business dress or casual dress attire.

How do you access Richardson Auditorium’s Balcony level?
The Balcony can be accessed only by staircases located throughout the lobby. There are no elevators/escalators.


What are pre-concert talks?
Pre-concert talks take place on the Sunday performances of our Classical Series. They are approximately 30-minutes long, starting at 3:00 pm and free to all ticket holders for that performance. Most talks are led by Edward T. Cone Music Director Rossen Milanov and typically include a guest such as the concert’s featured artist, guest conductor, and/or composer whose work is featured on the program.

Can I bring outside food and drink into the building?
While food and drink are permissible in the lobby, you cannot bring either into the performance space itself.


Are there refreshment services or a bar at this venue?
No, there is no refreshment services or bar at Richardson Auditorium. There is a water fountain located on the west side of the lobby near the restrooms.


Is there a coat check for personal items?
No, there is no coat check at this venue, but there are umbrella stands throughout the lobby. We do not recommend bringing larger personal items to this venue, such as backpacks, as space is limited in the seating area. If a personal item cannot be brought into the performance space, you must leave it with a Richardson Auditorium staff member only. Princeton Symphony Orchestra staff members are not permitted to take charge of any patron’s personal item(s).


What if I am late for a performance?
If you arrive after the concert has begun, the house managers or ushers will seat you at an appropriate point in the program, so as not to disrupt the performances and other concertgoers. Depending on when you arrive, we cannot guarantee you will be able to go to your ticketed seats. It will be at the house manager’s discretion where they seat you.

Note: At Richardson Auditorium, the lobby is fitted with a live audio and video feed of the concert.
